Many organisations and Individuals have provided support and assistance to Vumilia. We have friends in Kenya, the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Australia and Italy. Some of them prefer to remain anonymous. We thank them all deeply. Here we would like to publicly acknowledge a few of them:

African Childrens Haven

African Children’s Haven, a not-for-profit organization in USA is dedicated to the education and development of vulnerable children in Africa, and consolidates and remits funds donated for Vumilia by US based well wishers and supporters. Among the many US donors supporting Vumilia we acknowledge the generous support of a New York family whose contributions have enabled us to design and build our brand new Girls Home and to make other infrastructural developments on the farm. We would also like to express our warm thanks to the Sarita Kennedy East Foundation.

Aids & Child (Aids und Kind)

Swiss Foundation for Direct Assistance to Children Affected by AIDS, Zurich, Switzerland.

Aids & Child has generously supported the children’s welfare and education program, and also the Home Based Care program, for some years, and continues to provide vital support. They make regular visits to us to see the children and the programs in action, and our interactions as we develop these programs are deeply appreciated.

Edumed Trust in Kenya Logo

Edumed Trust in Kenya

A Kenyan trust fund which raises donations and subscriptions to support the education of needy children. Edumed has sponsored some of our children through secondary school. Our longtime friend Solomon Mwangi of Edumed visits Vumilia whenever he can.

Riders for Health

International social enterprise Riders for Health – founded by Andrea and Barry Coleman –  supports health delivery services in many African countries, training and supporting health professionals to ride and maintain motorcycles which they use to visit patients in their homes. Vumilia’s Home Based Care program, which makes 400 home visits a month, is supported by Riders. This is a hugely important part of Vumilia’s community service.

One Acre Fund Logo

One Acre Fund

A renowned social enterprise set up by Andrew Youn, that empowers smallholder farmers to increase their productivity and incomes (with training, inputs and loan financing, market information, agronomy)  One Acre Fund supports the Vumilia Farm with agricultural inputs and training. With this crucial support we are able to grow a lot of food for the girls and offer some for sale in the local market.

St.Tarcisius Catholic Church

The Parishioners of St.Tarcisius Catholic Church Camberley, UK

We are very grateful for the understanding and kind support of members of the congregation of this church, who have frequently raised funds for Vumilia.

The Global Fund for Women

Vumilia benefited from 2 generous grants from the Global Fund some years ago, which helped enormously during a difficult period. We hope to revive and develop this relationship.

Other Donors/Friends/Supporters

Very special thanks go to all those individuals who have helped and continue to encourage Vumilia’s work. We would like to make special mention of the Minoli family in Italy who enabled us to purchase the land we now occupy. And to Kathy Tate Bradish of Evanston in the US whose personal generosity has ensured none of the children in our care has ever gone hungry, and whose annual visits and active involvement in the local community have been a driving force behind our sexual health outreach and training program. Deep appreciation also to Mary McVay of Oak Park in the US whose hard work and dedicated support since the early days of Vumilia has been so valuable.  And to Ruth Stanley from the Welsh borders, whose first visit moved her to become our champion in the UK. Read more about these three here.
