VCT (VOLUNTARY COUNSELING & TESTING) CLINIC

Vumilia is the only VCT clinic within a 20km radius providing HIV testing and counseling to over 300 remote villages.  For people who test positive, Vumilia helps them access life saving medical treatment from a partner hospital. The clinic educates all patients about HIV.  It has been authorized and supported by the Kenya Ministry of Health since February 2006. Members of the core group spread the word in their local areas.

VUMILIA MEDICAL CLINIC

Vumilia has been accredited by the ministry of Health to offer services of health care to the entire community.   The clinic offers medical support to many who are bedridden with different kinds of illness and cannot afford to buy medicine or transport to the nearby Government hospitals.  We have 2 medical professionals and a team of 5 Community Health workers who makes a daily visit into the community to treat patients, counsel, provide education on HIV/AIDS and provide palliative care services to the bedridden. For the team to be able to reach out in the community and also to attend to emergencies we are fortunate to be collaborating with Riders For Health UK www.riders.org  who has solved our problems of transport by providing us with motorcycles. The team of Community Health workers are reaching out to 500 people a month.
