Vumilia’s programs provide a supportive and loving environment that is needed to empower people affected by HIV/AIDS.
- Community Programs
Providing high quality home based care and counseling services to women and families who are HIV+ or caring for someone who has HIV.
- Home Based Care (HBC)
- Voluntary Counseling and Training (VCT)
- Vumilia Riders – Riders for Health
- Income generation
- HIV Awareness and Sex Education
- Girls’ Home
Vumilia responds to alerts in the community about vulnerable and abused girls. Counselors advocate for them and counsel families. When necessary, Vumilia rescues girls in dire need and provides them a home. The home:
- Provides shelter, nutrition, medical care
- A protective, caring environment
- Educational support to girls in the home, and many other children in the community
Whenever possible, Vumilia helps the girls remain in contact with their extended family.
Through the support of wholeness international www.wholenessinternational.org and other donors we have managed to put some of our children to a nearby private school where the number of students in class is less in number than the Government school. The Government schools are having 120 students per teacher while the private school that I’m talking of is having 60 per teacher. The village private school parents still have to pay for everything in terms of books and paying of teachers but the quality of education is a little bit better.
